I've been reading about a hand-built preamp on a couple of other boards, where people have sung their praises of it. No personal experience with it. The Don Sachs SP14. You can have him customize it with specific caps & other parts. Prices run from $1500 to over $2000.

I looked into the Don Sachs preamp and actually talked to him yesterday. I am really impressed by his preamp and after talking to him, I have decided to buy his preamp for sure. It is all hand made with quality parts, really nice stuff.
