Question about Sony STR-DA1800ES and HDMI and 4K

So as you may have read in my DA555ES thread I lucked into a DA1800ES receiver.

Here’s the “issue”: it is marked as a 4K compatable receiver but running a high speed 4K compatable HDMI cable from my 4K Apple TV into HDMI input “Video 1” and out to my 4K Vizio TV the image quality gets dumped down to 1080.

According to the chat I had with Sony tech support ( I got bumped off so did t resolve the issue) the receiver is HDMI 2.2 compatable and this issue shouldn’t be happening.

I don’t have the remote but I will be getting one. Is there some setting that needs to be adjusted to stop this degradation of resolution?

Do you think there’s a firmware issue?

Any other ideas?

Don't panic!

You will need the remote to access the picture menu's advanced setting that will offer a few options, one probably being "Though" allowing the unaltered video signal to pass.
