Back in the saddle after a 13 year absence. Long story short, my wife and I both had health issues and decided to downsize our lifestyle.
Sold off my entire system includes the vinyl.
In March of this year I decided it was time to get back into it.
Bought a complete system within a budget .
Rega rp6 with a new Exact 2 cartridge. .... Hated it
Audio Research 150.2 amp. .... Hated it
Dynaudio Contour 1.8mkii speakers. .. way too small for my room.
Ok. I put that all in the closet and let's start over.
I first bought after all that a conrad johnson et3 preamp. ... very smooth
Then I immediately picked up a conrad johnson mf2500a .... super sweet
Then a pair of Proac Response D38 speakers. Oh my
Now today the UPS guy dropped off a VPI classic with Soundsmith Carmen mkii cartridge. Holy #×^".
I have now found everything I have been looking for.

Sometimes takes me a few systems/speakers/receivers before I settle on the one that tickles my ears the most. It's fun as long as I stay within "budgetary restraints."

I should never have cheaped out. I thought I could be satisfied with a more budget friendly system.
But my last system spoiled me , and there was never really a chance for the other stuff to work.
This VPI classic just makes the Rega rp6 / exact combo sound like Fischer price toy.

The GSP line of phono stages sound excellent for the amount they cost. Do you have PSU1 power supply as well? It seems to make quite a difference.
