It has the Super Analog D20400 chip.

Has a good reputation but haven't heard one. Looks fantastic, quite a bit like the Parasound.

Just a note: I see there the PMD-100 HDCD filter. Some people like it a lot, some not so much (it's just a 20 bit part), there are replacement kits with a more modern filter like DF1704.

Yeah, I read that there is some data truncation when not playing HDCD. Simple fix I believe was to lift a pin...

It employs some early form of noise dithering to mask the missing of those two LSB.

PS: See attached the datasheet for the D20400. It employs a discrete 8 bit multibit for MSB and a 12 bit "monolithic" DAC for LSB.
