Really, I could do with fewer cymbals in most music.

Or more of them played with a little finesse instead of just bashing them constantly.

But that is just me.

Opposite for me...most songs, there is hardly any ride or hi-hat cymbals that are very noticeable.
Most times,on a single continuous snare beat, the other hand is either sticking on the ride or hi-hat,which on most songs, are barely
mic'd at all.

'Dazzled', Penny's Pet Dragonfly
really great piece of minimalist music. you can hear each instrument.

Eddie Money- 'Two Tickets To Paradise'...actually the whole 'Eddie Money' c.d. has lots of ride and crash and tight snare.

What are you people talking about? I hear cymbals -- ride, crash and hi-hat -- in most of the music I play. You might want to check and make sure you haven't smoked your tweeters.

To make sure you haven't, you can use 10 CC "Deceptive Bends" as a test. LOTS of hi-hat.
