Go Habs Go!
Ahhh, another Sansui speaker thread, guess what ensues. It's amazing the bashing that goes on, though nobody's actually heard a pair...
The SP-X11000 was made to be run with the TOTL Sansui receiver of the day (G-33000); they were made to take all the power of that monster, and still survive. Are they full of finesse, do you think? Was the G-33000? Nah -- they were built to party, built to show off, built to excess, just like the receiver was (hey, it was the 70's!). I've always been curious to hear what the G-33000/SP-X11000 combo sounded like together...
Ya see, part of this audio hobby is all about collecting, and these beasts are hard to come by (as far as I know, they weren't even sold in the US), TOTL for the company, and thus collectible -- particularly because they were to be paired with perhaps the most collectible monster receiver of them all.
And yeah, somewhere I have a pair stored, waiting for the time that I do find that great big old Sansui box that goes with 'em... Will they ever push my Altecs out of the living room? Doubtful. Will I be parting with them for $500 any time soon? Also doubtful.

Actually, that'd be a very poor deal for the seller on a pair of these. BTW, ever hear a pair?$500 for Sansui SP-X11000´s is one heck of a great deal.......for the seller.
Kabuki in all their splendour!
If you can find a pair of these for $120, I'd suggest that you buy them -- they'll generally go over $1000 in nice shape. But to the question at hand there are no Sansui speakers worth $500 I'd say about $120 at the most, but for $500 you can definably get something much better.
