Schitt's Creek

Is anyone else watching this show? I found it on Netflix and have been hooked since.

The basic premise is an ultra rich family loses everything except the small rural town they bought as a joke gift for their sons birthday.

Eugene Levy and his son Dan created and star in the show, along with Catherine O'Hara and Annie Murphy, and Chris Elliott is great as Roland Schitt, the slightly sketchy Mayor and descendant of the towns founders.

The humor is low key, the townspeople aren't ignorant hicks and the rich people aren't jerks, it's more of a fish out of water story with everyone trying to adjust to their new reality.

My wife and I love it. We think it is very entertaining without being anything but pleasant. Truly rare in the in-your-face world of TV entertainment these days. Season 4 won't premiere until January, unfortunately.

I love it, especially the mom, of "Home Alone" fame. I am eagerly anticipating the new season.

The husband and wife on the show (Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara) were brilliant in the SCTV series back in the early 1980s. Some of the best sketch comedy ever. Much better than SNL (then and now).

The cast is great. I think that Eugene and Dan Levy were on GMA recently. I only caught the last minute, and Michael Strahan ended by mentioning "blank creek", wouldn't (or couldn't) say "schitt". Jeez.

I've seen ads for the series on CBC during breaks in the Olympics coverage.

I watched pretty diligently when it premiered a few years ago. Being an old SCTV (and that dry sort of humor) fan it was right up my alley. It has since fallen off my radar I'll need to revisit. It's been so long I'll probably start up again at season one.

There is another new series called Crawford that is filmed in Canada. Funny yet quirkly--very "Canadian." :D "Weird is the new normal." It stars John Carroll Lynch as the retired police chief father (mute from a gunshot injury), Jill Hennessy as the cereal company executive mother, and Kyle Mac as the failed rocker who returns to live at home. And raccoons. And a face from rock music that some may recognize. ;)
