Hi Gang,

Ok, I feel stupid for not asking this before, but I need help setting my my Technics SL 1200 MkII.

So, to set the tracking force, I assume I should set the weight so that the tone arm that it hovers horizantally, then adjust the scale to zero. Right so far? Then when I turn the weight, what am I reading on the scale. Is each diget a gram, or a tenth of a gram?

Sorry for such a beginner question.

Thanks,

Ed

process correct so far. zero balance tonearm so it's 'floating' level and parallel to the surface of the platter and set the "0" on the dial scale to the "0" mark on the tonearm, then dial in the tracking force sugested by your cart. mfr. Each major division will be 1 gram starting at 0 then 1 then 2 etc. You may have 1/4gm and 1/2 gm divisions or only 1/2 gm on the dial scale. Once that's all set, dial in the corresponding antiskate force = to tracking force. And there ya go.

Thanks for the info. I was doing it right, but wanted to make sure. Darn thing never sounded good. Needs a cart, as I thought.

Thanks,

Ed
