When I was a kid, my uncle had some JBL XPL90s on matching stands that just blew me away.
Many years later, my JBL journey started with a pair of 4312C out of curiosity, but I found them terrible, so sold them right away again:

Next were a pair of L40s, beautifully refinished by a fellow AKer:

I've had these Studio 580s for going on a year now and will probably never sell them, they're end game speakers for me. In fact, I'm about to veneer them in real wood cherry, already got the supplies:

I also recently had a pair of L26s which I liked quite a bit better than the L40s. The paper cone tweeter was way nicer than the early soft dome of the L40 IMO. I regret selling these, but they went to a good home:

There's plenty of really cool JBLs I'd still like to own, so the journey will continue...

CD players can have a dramatic input regarding sound. I was running a Technics player for a while and it sounded pretty good, sans that digital clinical sound. I upgraded to a Marantz CD 72U, and was shocked, what a huge improvement! Much more analog sounding, warmer and natural. The player is a Philips unit with Marantz packaging. I highly recommend considering one of these CD players.

    Nice gear you have!
Did you start on the veneering yet? I'd love to see how that project progresses.

Kraut, I love your photos and journey. Wow.

The Studio 580s continue to fascinate me. I should have grabbed a pair when Harman was blowing them out. Veneering them was my thought, too.

    Thank you!

Thank you! I haven't started yet, but I'll post pics of the process in my listening spaces thread when I do.

Here are mine, on there new stands! I have to say they sound amazing. I ordered the clarify capacitors as per senior zonker, that I will update with.

A pair of L-100's that needed just a bit of oil on the wood. New foam grills coming and new foam around the tweeter like so many do.
