I just bought a Sony TA-4650 from a person who claimed to be the original owner and that the amp was original. Upon receiving it I hooked it up in my garage system and it worked flawlessly. I then decided to make the mod to make it more reliable, i.e. change R313, 314, 363, 364 to the revamped value of 3,3Kohms and the D302 and 352 diodes. However, upon removing the power driver board from the chassis I found that the Vfets are not the original Sony 2SJ28 and 2SK82 but NEC B541A and Toshiba 2N3055. It appears that someone had changed them with a very scruffy job...there is not modification to the board what soever... all parts on the board are original. I thought that this amp only works with the Sony Vfets... Can the experts in the forum share some lights on this please..
