Speaker ID? Any insight? (I love this part of AK!)

My good buddy saw these in a thrift store. He's got a pile of Mac equipment, but he's not very well versed in vintage speakers. He said they're unmarked.IMG_1998.jpg

Cool speakers. I'd buy them just to find out. To me the layout looks similar to Wharfedale W70's (where the bass and mid would be). I'm guessing the two holes at the bottom are bass ports with the small top left being the tweeter a bit away from the other drivers due to the doors blocking the spot where it would normally be. Just a guess.

Well we went to the shop today. First of all, they're small. When I saw the photos I thought the cabinets were at least 30" tall, they turned out to be about 18". I opened one of them, the only branded driver was by 'Quam'. The other two drivers were cheap looking.

$140? No. The cabinets were beautiful and worth $20 to me.

Quams are about as low as you get on the speaker totem poll. Many (if not most) of those crappy ceiling speakers playing Musak were Quams. I agree the cabs are pretty cool.
