According to the BBC. He was 76.
He lived a lot longer that doctors thought he would. There may never be another like him. Rest In Peace Mr. Hawking.
Sad to hear.
One of the smartest people of our generation.
I’d like to think that Mr. Hawking experienced things that others never did !!!
A great mind and an indomitable spirit.
Rest in peace, Professor Hawking.
RIP Mr Hawking. Thanks for being here for as long as you were.
That is terribly sad news, we may not see the like of him again, but now he can know all the secrets of the Universe.
That he lived this long is truly a testament to the dedication of his carers, and to the technology that allowed him to speak. But most of all for his indomitable spirit and his unquenchable passion for learning more about the Universe.
RIP Dr. Hawking.
He died on Einstein's birthday:
March 14, 1879
Also "Pi Day" (3/14)
He was someone who made a big difference.
RIP Professor Hawking.....
I've never had a mind for science but he got me closer to some understanding. RIP.
He was amazing, RIP.
Rest in Peace, dear Stephen.
Tried, key word tried to read one of his books and had way more questions after I had read it.
Brilliant man with tremendous depth of focus. If we've lost him, there will be very few to walk in his "footsteps".
He was one of a kind in the area of Quantum Mechanics/Physics! Many have benefited from his ideas/theories.
RIP, sir! Hopefully there's a seven year old out there pondering the mysteries of the cosmos and eventually to follow in his footsteps (or wheelchair tracks as that may be).
He was told 2 years when he was diagnosed in his 20s
Very strong willed.
