My cousin lives/lived in Paradise, CA., north of Sacramento. The entire town burned down and she lost everything, including her two cats. They were evacuting and got stuck in traffic and had to leave the car to burn and run for their lives. Several lives were lost.
Meanwhile, the Malibu and east San Fernando Valley/Thousand Oaks areas are currently being devestated by fire with many homes lost.
This one is for all of them.
We were evacuated last year due to local fire, but we lost nothing. We live in the Santa Ana Canyon that the Santa Ana Winds are named for. My friend's house down the street almost/would have burned, but he has sprinklers on the roof and his son stayed with the house all night putting out the spot fires. There are only so many fire fighters to go around.
