As the saying goes, "It's better late than never." I was more of a fan of The College Dropout, Late Registration, and Graduation. My favorite track from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is "All of the Lights," as he simply went apeshit on the beat during the latter half of the track. Kudos to an excellent pick by a not-so-great rapper but one of hip-hop's all-time greatest beat makers, hands down.

I've never been a fan of Boston, the city or its culture, but on the hip-hop front, this fellow is amongst the giants. Between this release and 2011's A Face In the Crowd, "Edo" proves once again that "it's not where you're from - it's where you're at." Ill lyrics/punchlines, tight tracks, and a thoroughly head-bobbing hip-hop album from a great New England-based M.C.

You're welcome, Worried Man. Ed got his start with Roxbury, Boston, MA cohorts Da Bulldogs at the beginning of the 90s, with their most popular single by far being 1991's "Be a Father to Your Child." The single attempted to urge young men at the time to essentially "man up" and stop abandoning the mothers of their children due to selfishness, commitment issues, and plain ole irresponsibility. Between his work with Da Bulldogs in 1991 and 1993 and his solo career beginning in 2000, I prefer his solo material as it highlights that fact that some individuals perform better on their own versus within the confines of a group. Thanks for this, KDAC. I'll have to look for it.
