Sticky Fingaz - Black Trash: The Autobiography of Kirk Jones

Sticky's work with Onyx may have had the crowds throwing their guns in the air, but this effort is personal, introspective, and incredibly well-written. His conversation with God on "Oh My God" serves as an example of some of the questions we all ponder...

Tobe Nwigwe is a new artist that I have been listening to a lot lately. His word play is down right one of the best I have EVER heard. That is saying something. I feel like he will shore up some of his deficiencies as he matures in his music more but more than worth a listen to follow his progression.

Good track to listen to "PROSPER" or his Z-RO/RAKIM Freestyle.

PMD - Business Mentality

Cover.JPG
Whew! (Wipes forehead...) In this game, the title "veteran" exists for a reason. Honestly, the intro to this album sounds better than half the albums being released as of late. The "mumble rap" and trap shit needs to go - and I don't care if I get "flamed." Hip-hop: (amazing) beats, (uplifting, insightful) rhymes, and (well-lived) life. There's nothing wrong about the hood life and I refuse to judge. What proves irksome is that the industry insists upon showing only that side of the game. If you're seeking refuge from that bullshit spilling out of Greater Atlanta/south of the Mason-Dixon line, give this one a listen and tell me you couldn't help but bob your head to "Mic Doc (feat. RJ da Realst)." As much as Shadē Business was panned in '94, I've got to give it up for this one. Pee really demonstrates why he (along with Erick Sermon) holds an iconic place in hip-hop.

Funny enough, KD, I just recently pulled my ORIGINAL Fresh/Sleeping Bag LPs of Strictly Business and Unfinished Business out to spin on my Audio-Technica AT-LP120 deck...my god were those some of the best moments in Hip Hop, and these boys hailed from where I grew up too, Long Island, New York (though I lived nowhere near them on "the Island")...
