MASTER re: ROCK. Ain't only my opinion, but it is, in fact, my opinion, too.
 
I haven't read through the entire thread, but I'd nominate Joe Pass as one of the greats. I particularly like the Intercontinental album, specifically the opening track of Chlo-e; I have the transcription and am slowly working my way through it. I'll never be able to play like Joe Pass but I do like the tune. Some of his playing I find repetitious and overdone with his fill-ins but I find his overall playing and connection to the guitar in the jazz format uncanny much in the same manner that I also find SRV to have the same connection but with the blues. OPG.
