Also, That model Marantz has a TOC reading issue on some discs. I found the service bulletin, Install a 1ohm resistor on the transport, Which I'm doing asap. A cap there gets overheated. Then it will be a really stellar player. I was very surprised the performance it put on. It's , What 15yo now.

OMG, I totally forgot that the Oppo plays SACD.:yikes: I have had it 4 years and never even bought one. (I better start shopping). This is a tough call for me as well. They both sound great. The thing that blew me away yesterday after using these two decks for so long I never realized just how long it took them to load a disc. That McIntosh I just got is supper fast. I never gave it a thought until yesterday. Is there a big difference between SACD and just regular CD's? I have never owned a SACD.

SACD is hi resolution. Different layers. You definitely need to try a few. DSOTM and Machine Head would be a great place to start. Classical? Out of this world SQ

I'll let you know. My CD collecting has turned up a few SACDs and I also have an Oppo, which I've only used so far for CDs. I'll get it hooked up to my multi-channel system so I can play the SACDs.
