Yamaha CD-X1. Plays pretty much as soon as the drawer closes. Why can't modern drives do this?

What's cool about those and the lesser PD-54 I had was the "stable platter" where the CD is placed upside down on a solid, padded "turntable" free from indirect laser scatter.I need to apologize. I had my mind on my PD-65s.
The Player/DAC Combo that one can only dream about.
That’s interesting. I never knew thatThe reason why so many modern players are slow on load and seek is due to code being written in Java, instead of dedicated H/W chips and fast firmware written assembly or machine code.
That said, the aforementioned Yamaha is a very nice unit.
I had one of those when it came out. Loved it.Yamaha CD-X1. Plays pretty much as soon as the drawer closes. Why can't modern drives do this?
This has been sorted for a good while now. There were indeed a host of issues, but everything was found and repaired. It’s a good player, to say the very least.Agreed. And I am working out the details, so I’m not screwed for the deal here. If I can, I’ll just put this in a bin for a later date when I’m not so busy and sort it out then. Can’t be too difficult, something isn’t filtering a noise seems to be the main issue. Plus the two drawer belts.
