Welcome to the new members......

Andrew I have enjoyed your posts both here and elsewhere on your turntable/arm upgrades. Thirty eight years ago two of the principles of McIntosh taught me what they knew about turntable setup and pushed me to supply that knowledge not only to our high end clients but even those who were just getting started with entry level turntables. It became a fundamental of our business plan.

Kkchome, what a great piece of McIntosh a MAC4100 is to get started with. I just got one in a trade, recapped it, and have been listening to it daily as I sort out my new space.

Yes, a Stereotech does gain you entrance into the world of McIntosh ownership according to the man himself, Gordon Gow. He expected us to service Stereotech owners in all the same ways we serviced all Mac owners.

DSC_0601.JPG I use a macpro 5.1 tower as roon server outputting usb to my nuprime dac9 which in turn is hooked up to my mc501's
With pro music generic 50' xlr cables. The mc501's have a couple low end audioquest powercords for looks and my Aurum Cantus V3M stand mount speakers are connected with XLo signature 3 speaker cables (6 foot lenght)
I had a C2200 that was my first mac piece, sold it and bought a used C2500 then sold that, I found in my setup i wasnt get any added fidelity with the analog tube preamps, great pieces but the nuprime dac9 was actually better sounding in my setup to me and numerous other people who a/b them with me. I only have one source and it's digital, the next analog preamp i will be buying is the C200. I am excited to try that out

It's a Empire 598 which I got dirt cheap because of missing parts. It took a while to find everything but was well worth it. It has a Shure M75 cartridge with a N75EJ stylus. Not state of the art but it sounds pretty awesome.

I guess I'll share here as well. My Mac gear

MPC power controller
MR88 tuner
D100 DAC
C2200 tube preamp
