it may be disturbing to see gear being scrapped but there's an element of recycling.

there are probably 100x the number of people tossing perfectly repairable gear into
dumps, landfills, roadside - on their way to buy new cheap stuff to replace them.

Absurdly stupid video - Anyone who has been alive the last 7-10 years has a smartphone and access to the internet, ebay, Craigslist. Worth can be determined within 30 minutes or less. A quick CL posting at 1/2 to 1/4 of the value on Ebay would net an easy $40-100 cash money from some grateful collector or even flipper. Very little labor, no cabinets to dispose of, in and out of your hair within 7 days IF you're in a decent urban area.
