What vintage gear are you playing?

Found a Dynakit ST70 and Dynaco PAS3 in the garbage. Good to be a Garbageman. Cost $100 to get them repaired. $30 for my ADS L400 speakers at Goodwill and $19.99 at a video store for my Sony Playstation 1 5501 for my CD Player. Also have a pair of Genesis Model 1+ that needs woofers refoamed and a pair of Mission 765i speakers. Looking forward to getting the Genesis running!

A Pioneer A-70 circa 1982 120 wpc- PL 400- AR94 speakers. An well balanced setup for vinyl at moderate listening levels. The ARs are not real efficient so the power of the Pioneer works well with them.Like I said these speakers are not going to rattle walls due to their size but sound very good.file photospioneer a70.jpg pl 400.jpg AR94.jpg

To me Class A amps just push all the right buttons.

Guitar Rig
Sansui 881
Denon DVD-900
Baby Advents and or Polk Monitor 30s
Line 6 Pod
2001 Mexican Strat
I know, "you'll blow up your speakers kid" I haven't yet and it sounds really cool.

Workshop System

Emerson DVD player
DCM TF350s or KLH Model 6
Need some tunes while I tinker

TV System
Kenwood KA-701

Either never got the memo on surround sound or more than likely ignored it.

My setup: Technics SL-1360 -> Akai AA-1040 -> IMF Compact Monitor II (I continue to be be amazed at how low, and clean these small boxes go).
Currently playing Deep Purple's Made in Japan

I use vintage receivers for my two channel systems but use modern speakers for them (Polk 110bs).
KR850 (75WPC)with older Sony DVD hooked up to Xfinity cable box to stream music from.
Realistic STA 85 (35WPC) to use with the TT that I swap out with a Kenwood KR 4600.

Sears Sanyo built LXI that I picked up for $8 that I use for the computer. I also have a Pioneer SX 680 for computer use and I will move the LXI into the spare bedroom

I really do need to hook up something in the kitchen.

Tremendous collection of gear. The garage sounds like you're out there a LOT! I would be. I need to ask about your livingroom set up. Specifically the JBL PS60. I recently acquired one and have problems with the off on switching. As you know there is no always on position. The listening levels that I usually play at aren't enough to activate the "on" of this sub amp. Do you have this issue? Is there a fix on the plate amp I can do? Should I set up something to make my main speakers less efficient, and thereby allow my receiver's volume setting to be higher? Any suggestions? BTW I am using line level inputs because my NAD 7220PE doesn't have subwoofer output.

EasyRiderNYC,

That sure is a nice looking stack of equipment very attractively set up.

What vintage gear are you playing?

How do you like the SAE 5000A? Do you readjust often? Like every record or even every song? I'm thinking about getting one.

Most of the time I do not have my SAE 5000A switched in because it does have a negative impact on the sound. I switch it in only for records where the benefit of its application outweighs the negative aspects of its use. It is a valuable tool and I am glad I have it for those times when it is needed. And yes, the best performance is obtained when it is adjusted for each record with which it is used.

Just set up a system for my fathers porch using some of my extra gear. A Realistic STA-78 into Minimus 7s with a Toshiba CD changer as the source. Surprised how good it sounds outdoors like that.

Playing the living room setup tonight: Pioneer SX-950 playing Youtube JJ Grey YouTube videos thru a pair of Realistic Optimus 5Bs
Will retire to the bedroom after a while and listen to FM radio: Sherwood S7100-A feeding a pair of Infinity Entra Twos

I also have set up a Pioneer SX-1000TW attached to Cerwin Vega D2s and a pair of older apparently homebuilt 12" 3-ways in nice walnut cabs, and which sound quite with the warm tone of the Pioneer.

On standby in the corner:
-- Sansui 771
-- Realistic STA-90
-- Pioneer SX-636

Idle Speakers:
-- Sansui SP-2000
-- Bose 601 series II
-- Graphyx 6
-- B&W DM303 (2 pair)

1975 Sansui AU-6600 stereo amplifier with 1971 Dynaco A-25 speakers! :)
The only part of selling my A-25's that I can stand is the fact that they are now in a better environment and have an even more obsessive compulsive speaker collector than me as an owner. They are by far one of the most listenable speakers I ever owned. I would use them continuously in my shop, every weekend when I had them. They never complained or squealed at me, despite the source material, the humidity and the cold. Lots of systems went those years to pay for the Wall Street crooks to get bailed out. They could be excused for their debt, but if I missed a payment, I'd be homeless as well as jobless.

Pioneer SA 9500 II and TX 9500 II, Technics SL-D20, all to some Epi M100's. Will be some ADS goodness when the mids and tweets return from Richard So. Don't know if the Adcom GCD 575 cd player qualifies as vintage, but it's well over 20 years old.
