When are speakers not Electronics?

When they're listed on CL as "Furniture". Not a huge score @ $200, but from very nice people who have owned and babied them since new. First series, so no biamping (which I don't do anyway), but with butyl woofer surrounds so they just need the donuts replaced, and I'll do the ferrofluid then, too. Grills are as nice as the rest of the setup

They sound pretty darned nice right now in the Test Location.

$200 sounds like a good deal to me, especially in that condition. Congrats!

My KLH model Fives were in the furniture section at the Thrift store. I didn't know until I went to buy them ($29.99), and was told that furniture was 50% off!! I tried to tell them that they were speakers, not furniture, but they wouldn't budge...at least I tried.

50% off is a great deal :)

Yes, Kef 104/2s. Another lesson besides looking outside of the Electronics section - these were described as Kef Vintage Speakers and had no description, just a fuzzy pic of the grille badge and one of the speakers. Took a few minutes to figure out what they were. Also worth being persistent and pleasant, they were listed by a family member and there were about 10 emails back and forth.

those are the same as mine
i had the tweeters redone and did the donuts myself
thats one set of speakers thatwill never leave my house
