Hi.i m having a dead vd 1212 next to the heatsinks.can you please tell which is the negative side on this diode?the red or the white?i will replace it with 2 in series 1n4148.it manifests on shutting down the power .if i restart it 3 4 times or if i warmed it with hot air works very fine.i hope this will fix it

Check the solder connections on the two pass transistors mounted to the heatsinks next to the VD1212.

Red end is the anode.
 
Thank you.i ve already redid the solder connections on the transistors.the two diodes must be in series,right?
 
I ve replaced the diode with 2 x 1n4148.it seems to not die anymore.i hope this solved the problem.question:replacing the original diode will affect in any way the performance of the preamp?
