Re-building the power supply on my CR-800. I want the replace all the transistors so I don't have to go back into it.
This is what I found searching various forums, but I'm not confident about what I've found.
Here's what I found:
2SA572 TO KSA992FBU
2SC458C TO KSC1845FTA
2SC1124 TO 2SC3902
2SC734Y TO 2SC1815
2SA561 TO KSA1015GR
2SA682 TO KSA1220AY
2SA7063 TO ?
Hoping someone can verify and note a replacement for the 7063

i only see 2 pnp transistors on power board .. are you referring to a driver on main amp board ?
what is the board id number ? this schematic is more than crap .

Re-building the power supply on my CR-800. I want the replace all the transistors so I don't have to go back into it. Why ? what a strange idea !! Do you know that if a TR is good it stay good (if you don't touch anything ) they are not like tubes there is no wear !!

you loose your time and your money , without talking about the risk to no find the right sub !

this is a non sense

You want to know perfect sub for your TR list ? OK here they are :

2SA572 is 2SA930 (SANYO) , 2SA673A(HITACHI) , 2SA1127 (MATSUSHITA), 2SA999L (MITSUBISHI) , 2SA933 (ROHM)
2SC458C not necessary to replace because only ONE type is leaking with the time not ALL 2SC458 !!! perfect sub is : 2SC1815 (TOSHIBA) , 2SC2320 (MITSUBISHI)
2SC1124 is 2SC3902 (SANYO) , 2SC1625 (TOSHIBA) , 2SD667 (HITACHI) , 2SD1563A (ROHM)
2SC734Y is 2SC1815 yes ! but only this one ! 2SC2274 (SANYO) , 2SC1279 (NEC) , 2SC1213A (HITACHI) , 2SC1685 (MATSUSHITA) , 2SC3581 (MITSUBISHI)
2SA561 is 2SA1015 (TOSHIBA) , 2SA953 (NEC) , 2SA673A (HITACHI) , 2SA720 (MATSUSHITA) , 2SA1399 (MITSUBISHI) , 2SA933 (ROHM)
2SA682 is 2SB1144 (SANYO) , 2SA1358 (TOSHIBA) , 2SB548 (NEC) , 2SB647 (HITACHI) 2SA1399 (MITSUBISHI)
2SA706 is 2SB647 (HITACHI) , 2SB1041 (ROHM),

Now , you know everything you need to know .

Again changing all of them is stupid if they work !

This is your money after all

OK, I'm just learning how to read transistor specs, but what Am I missing here?
KSC1845FTA replaces a 2SC458C, but when I look at the specs on the1845 they seem so out of range to the 458.
Why isn't a BC549BTA a better match?
Sorry if I sound stupid for not being able to figure this out.

If I good understand this is not your job , OK but what document are you reading ?? Internet ??
Here are original datasheet very very difficult to get , you will never find them anywhere except here today on AK .

What make you think that the specifications of 2SC1815 are "out of range" to the 2SC458 ????

In my search I had found that the 1845 was the replacement, which is 120 V /Vcbo.
What is the swing in Vcbo that is acceptable?
What other ratings should I be looking at carefully?

Thanks, for all your help, and patience.

No ! perfect sub is 2SC1815 not 2SC1845 .

I don't follow your way to think and take a look on my datasheet : 2SC458 VCBO is 30V , for 2SC1815 VCBO is 60V . I told you perfect sub is 2SC1815 easy to find in original TOSHIBA today ! don't look for anything else .

The datasheet I sent to AK are made by YAMAHA themself , you can trust them ! I work with these datasheet since more than 35 years and none trouble !

In your previous meesage you said :
Why isn't a BC549BTA a better match ? don't mix Japanese transistors with others , that's my recommendation . If you want to continue in this way by replacing every transisitors , do it ! but again this is not necessary !

The OP mentioned using a KSC1845FTA (not 2sc1845) as a sub for the 2SC458C; the datasheet for the KSC1845FTA is different than the 2SC458C in #15. That may be a source of misunderstanding.

Symbol Value
VCBO 120V
VCEO 120V
VEBO 5V

Hello

I think that this is important to tell you something you don't know :

KSC1845 is a 2SC1845 manufactured by FAIRCHILD who bought matrix from NEC . This is exactly the same semi-conductor .

For example if you find a KSC2320 it is exactly the same than a 2SC2320 , simple no ?

At the beginning of your messages you talk about :

KSA992FBU ..................This is a 2SA992 !
KSA1015GR....................Is a 2SA1015GR !

where is the problem ?

Brainstorming ?

Don't ask yourself questions where there is no reason for ...

Do you know transistors ?

You better trust those who knows instead internet

AK is a reliable source of informations and some members are very well informed

thank you ..your reply was much more informative than what i had in mind .. yes i know about 2sc ksc etc . and when it all started in japan .. 1s is 2 wires ..2s is is 3 wires . 3s .4 wires etc etc .. then the 2 got changed for a k .. same parts different suffix
