ZZ Top dates

See Billy now before it's too late. (I'm glad I saw him in 2008 because last October's show (Keswick Theater @Philly) was super, super condensed (1 hr 15 min) and I felt really disappointed. And $105 a tx! He barely put anything into his playing. No slide guitar (ie. "Just got Paid") or "Cheap Sunglasses". And I've never seen a crowd that was louder than ZZ Top and unruly (fights in the crowd, etc.). Billy remarked that he couldn't hear himself talk on the mike.)

I had the feeling that they were about ready to throw a Farewell Tour. Dusty was watching Billy closely throughout the Show like he was concerned about him for some reason.

My first concert was ZZ Top in 1999, I was about 14 years old and it is still one of the best shows I have ever seen. It was actually ZZ Top and Lynrd Skynrd, probably was 30 bucks for the tickets? 105 dollars seems crazy given what I paid back then.

In the back of my mind I'd always wanted to see them again, but I may not have the chance again, and I'm a bit worried that I'm expecting what I got in 99 and may not get that good of a show again.

Too funny. My wife also went to their 1999 show in Michigan. I have never seen them but wish I did. The closest I ever got was a band that sounded like them in Joe's Generic Bar, Austin TX.

That 1999 tour, I was working at the sound/lighting company in Houston that managed the tour.
I had to ship gear out all over the world for them.
They even prepped the stage in the warehouse.
That was a pretty cool time in my life.

Wow, no kidding. I grew up in Michigan so I was probably at the exact same show if it was at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

I picked up a video of The Recycler Tour 1991. Wow. They pulled out all the stops. He and Dusty played big custom-made hollow-bodied guitars for the Tour (see link). The set was made out of old trucks and metal scrap (drumset was on a flatbed) and some busty girls in construction outfits w/short-shorts came out during one song. Great list of songs including "Love Thing", "Tell it", "2000 Blues", "Give it up". Even had a moving sidewalk.

Saw 'em in '83 on "Eliminator" for the first time - Allentown Fairgrounds - and many many times after - always a good show.
