Marantz 1515 lights / lamps....

Hello, im new to marantz. I just got an old model 1515. It sounds great however, the front lights are not lighting up. Where can i get replacement parts? does anyone happen to know the part number? also, is this an easy fix?

someone should be able to help here.the 15xx seriers are not that common around here.i have a 1550 with the dial lights out also.sounds good
 
If someone has a service manual I might be able to x-ref them for that model, Dave. :scratch2:

Hello, the 1515 shares the SM with the MR215. Early 80's models.
According to the SM, the lamps' code is IN10080420, but there's no need to xref.. as they're the usual 8V 0.2A fuse lamps.
Replacing lamps in these models is even easier then in the older marantz receivers: they only have four, 2 for the dial and 2 for the instruments. They're placed on the side (not on the back of the dial like the old ones), covered by a small metal lid. Unmount the faceplate, then the lid and you're done. Much too easy. :thmbsp:

I have a 1515 in front of me with the lid off and there is 100% definitely a lamp behind the faceplate, though, yes the rest of the lamps are on the side and easy to gain access.
 
PM DGWOJO, he can supply although I think they won't be blue, I just redid one and used the regular non blue fuse lamps.
 
Hello, I have a problem on my Marantz 1515 that I've just cleaned up and lubricanting the switches and posts that the stereo indicator doesn't light up in FM mode but on other modes like AUX etc. It light up good. Did anyone know what can cos that? Is the stereo switch not good or something else? Thanks.

When FM is selected, the STEREO light comes on ONLY when an FM station is broadcasting in stereo and the FM signal is strong enough to receive the stereo signal. If you know the station is broadcasting in stereo AND your signal strength meter is about 3/4 full scale, then either the bulb is burnt out or there is a problem in your FM multiplex circuit. When you listen to the L and R channels, do they sound the same or can you actually hear stereo?
 
Hi, thank you for your reply. The FM signal is strong enough to receive the stereo signal and signal strength meter is about 3/4 full scale, but it lights ON on PHONO, AUX1, AUX2. The filling is that both channels are the same like mono even if it's on stereo mode. When it's on AUX1 I can fill that it's stereo. More than that, when you push the stereo button from stereo to mono on FM you don't here any difference. BTW what's the multiplexer on the 1515 model? Is it IC chip? Thank you.

The FM stereo LED is driven from Pin 2 of this AN7000 Stereo Tuner IC.

The LED is good since it seems to light up also when other inputs are selected. Since you also said that when you tune in a strong FM stereo signal, it does not light up, it sounds like there might be a problem with the Q206 Stereo Tuner IC.
Make sure that the MODE button is not pressed in.
Do you have any test equipment and knowledge of how to troubleshoot electronic circuits? If not, I would suggest you take it to an audio technician for repair.

Start by measuring the DC voltages for all pins of Q206. The expected values are indicated on the schematic above.
I think that the voltages in parenthesis are when tuned to a stereo station so you can measure these both tuned in to a stereo and not stereo signal.
It looks like you can check for the 19kHz FM MPX signal at J140 test point.
Next, try to tune in a strong stereo station and measure the DC voltage on Q206 pin 2. See if tuning on/off station affects the pin 2 voltage.
0V = Mono​
+12V = Stereo​
With power off, you can check continuity from LED QY01 anode to R329.

Did the Stereo light work before you cleaned the switches and stop working after the cleanup?
