Where to get grill cloth for Large Advents?

I picked up a pair on New Large Advents (A3 & A4) last month - $10. They grills were covered with black cloth. After refinishing and refoaming I want to redo the grill with a cloth that approaches the original. Anybody know where I can get a decent facsimile of the original tan cloth?

Ballylongford sent you a PM, ostensibly about where to get the grill cloth. I was asking for the information to be shared. I have two pair of New Large Advents in need of grill cloth and have been unable to find anything that looks similar.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I've found it to be unobtainium.
There may be some "matches", but the weave, color, and texture all won't jive.
You'd think with all of the Advents out there, somebody would have it, but i've had zero luck with it for the past 5+ years.

If you find some, let us know!!
 
If the grey color is important, than you might have a hard time finding something. But most fabric stores have some sort of white open weave fabric that is a pretty decent replacement both visually and acoustically.

I have a selection of 4-5 open weave linen grill cloths and can sample folks with swatches. They were originally acquired for Acoustic Research Speakers but some of my Advent owning customers have sampled and purchased quantities and were quite happy.

Thanks, Carl! Although my pair does not need new grilles at this point, it would be nice to know that an original-looking cloth is available in case I find another pair needing replacement. Sounds like a few people in this thread alone has a more pressing need than I do, though.

I re-did my Advents with 18 count- cotton(cross stitch fabric) from Michael's, it's not the grey shade, but looks nice.

Sorry, I don't have any resources.

I just happen to be about 20 miles away from Erik and have an extra pair of Advent grills, so the PM was a heads-up as to whether he and I can meet up on the grills I have.

I found our local "Hobby Lobby" has multi colors bolts of a soft open weave burlap type material. When washed, softened and the stand up fibers are shaved it is very good material.

I used this on my KLH Model 5s. It's not a good match for what was originally on them, however I've been told it makes the KLHs look like Large Advents.

I replaced the grille cloth with some great fabric from our nearby Fabric Place store. For the external cloth I used an off-white cotton muslin with tan flecking (Fabric Place SKU # 0572803), and an undercloth of black interfacing (Fabric Place SKU # 0581023). Now all I need are some "new" KLH speaker badges.
