Philips "Hifi Sound Project TA 6000" Receiver

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Philips "Hifi Sound Project TA 6000" Receiver - I've had one laying around for awhile and am unsure of whether it's rare enough to be worthwhile to keep or if I could just sell it off.

Does anyone know if these rigs are decent / rare / good ?

I have a TA8000. It´s basically the same receiver, but with higher output power. I sounds excellent and is well-built - that also includes the tuner section.
 
As far as i know, there was a Sound Project 4000, 6000, 8000 and 12000. The model number tells you the total output power; 8000=80 watt (2*40 watt). The higher models also had some more buttons. For instance, the 12000 has both high- and low filters, the 8000 has high filter only.

The Sound Project series as far a I remember was put on the market under the Scandinavian branding DUX, only.
Of course DUX was all Philips ...but is Philips, Philips..??
THIS particular receiver wasn't made i Holland for sure. Has all the markings of being produced in the far east and looks a lot more like a Sanyo/Fisher than what Philips produced locally in Europe.
...and that's not at all bad :thmbsp:

Hmm, mine's just got Philips etched straight on to the metal with no badges - it's also Philips on the back of the unit. All feature's otherwise are exactly the same. (bad pic attached, can take a better photo when the sun's up)

By the way, do you know what the AFC button does, and what the CONT switch does?

The AFC button is "Automatic Frequency Control" for the FM radio. CONT is the same as loudness. My receiver plays in stereo when the "mono"-switch is flipped up (in MONO position). The receivers were sold with (at least) Philips, DUX and Loewe badges.
 
These are regarded as good receivers.I've seen them from time to time-I was even tempted to buy a TA12000 once,but have never listened to any of them myself,so I have no opinion on them.From a Swedish test of the TA6000 in 1979-the makers spec in black and test results in red:

Sound Project TA12000

I have a Sound Project TA12000 with LOEWE logo.
This was originally a PHILIPS product, the AH 686.

They are pretty, and they sound kinda nice, but they are not worth much. The top of the line model normally fetches around €50.
