Bullnose or Angled Large Advents

Are either of these cabinet styles more desirable than the other in the Large Advents? Is one an older style?

Both are the wood veneer and are more desirable than the 'utility' (vinyl) cabinets. IIRC, the angled is the Original LA, the rounded bullnose is the New LA.
 
The angled model is the original Large Advent , and the bullnose if one the "new" Large Advent which is brighter on the treble and has the metal framed woofers.

It depends on your aesthetic and musical preferences really.

i've located a set of the older original "Large"
fair condition for their age, woofers need to be re-foamed. they are asking $45 for them. the only reason i haven't snatched these up FAST, because I'm loooking for a set of the bullnose cabinet Advents. And was wondering if both will perform the same BASS wise.
do the original or bullnose sound any different bass wise? thanks in advance!
 
Have had both and bass response seemed equal. One note about the angled case, the front angled molding is solid walnut, the bullnose molding is stained yellow birch.
 
I'll throw my hat into the ring in favor of the Bullnose. I had both at one time and preferred the tweeter in the bullnose New Large Advents. They both had a really nice bass response, I just found the bullnose to be a more refined sounding speaker, in my system and room at the time.
 
Go to the identifying your Advents sticky. The original Advent literature, indicates that Henry Koss designed the New Advent to be an improvement on the original.

I had a pair of the new "bullnose" Advents. Excellent speaker. Great bass from a sealed cabinet, quality and quantity. I believe I paid $149/ea in the early 80s. I gave them to a friend who eventually needed to replace the surrounds. They had the orange tweeters.

Did you use the standard Econowave crossiver for the square waveguides in the Advents? Which waveguide part number is that? I looked in the JBL brochure, but the only square units were 12" x 12".

I used the E'Wave crossover modified slightly for the Advent woofer, and that worked fine for starters. I'll get back on that and finalize them in my Advent thread.

Jackgiff has a pair of these waveguides, and you'll likely soon see documentation of what he's doing with them in the E'Wave thread. We're both using Selenium drivers.

Skywave-rider also has a pair, I believe. I haven't heard what he's cookin' up yet. Maybe he's waiting for me and Jack to get our respective acts together. ;)

I'll be doing a version in the Utility cabinet with the all-metal woofers and the 12" rectangle EWave horn with 210 Selenium driver.

When I get off my lazy backside and do it.

I have most of the bits here but I've been spending my time running around looking at colleges instead of building speakers.

veneer maybe but my bullose are wood. Not mdf veneer
 
I have a pair of bullnose NLA's here and they are veneer over composite except for the cabinet's curved front rim.
