Technics SA-700 Questions

I recently picked up this SA-700 on C/L. The seller said the safety led was on and thought it had other problems. I have been cleaning the the switches and pots with Deoxite. The tape monitor switch being dirty, was causing no output on either channel. I believe the safety led should be on during normal operation, but the seller didn't think so. I haven't finished cleaning it yet, but so far, things are looking good. I connected my old Magnavox CD deck thru it and it sounds pretty good thru my OHM L's. I can't wait to connect them to my Koss CM-1030's
Cosmetically, it is probably a 9 out of 10, and I have always loved the SA series. I have an SA-303 also.
I have the SA-700 service manual, but not the owners manual, so here are my questions.

1. During normal operation, should the safety LED be lit? I believe yes.
2.What would you connect to the AM Stereo Out and 4CH MPX Out jacks? (1 jack each, common ground)

It's kind of funny, that you can download the service manual for this unit for free, but not for the SA-303. The seller actually had the original printed service manual which he gave me. I have not even found a link for the owners manual. Strange

I have a mint SA-600, bought new by my father in 77-78. It sat on the same self for 20 years, he hadn't used it for the last ten. Unfortunatley the dial lights don't come on, nor does the saftey light, or any output either, which according to the manual 'should come on during normal operation'.
In my case I think it's a cold/bad solder joint some where in the main power supply for the receiver (directly connected to the AC cord)-but haven't investagated further.
But the saftey light should be on.
I agree, they are very nice sounding, and have very powerful amps for their size, a saw a test report were the SA-600, a 70 watter, clipped at 138 watts into 4 ohms.
Quite a bit more reserve than the competing Pioneer recievers of the time,
 
There are internal fuses you can check. Also, it seems the switches on this series of receivers was prone to dirt and intermittent operation. My SA-303 also had a dirty Tape monitor switch that caused problems. I also had to replace all axial lamps on it because the majority of them burned out. The SA-700 has 4 bulbs.

Here are some .jpg's of my new to me SA-700. After cleaning all the controls, it sounds great. I polished the faceplate and knobs also. The tuning knob is solid aluminum. Just for giggles, I snapped a picture of my SA-303 next to it's big brother.

Yep, I have two SA-700's, They aren't as pretty as some of my others, but the "sound" can't be denied. I prefer the sound over my Marantz (and I'm a Marantz man), Sansui, Kenwood, and Scott recievers and amps.
