Flat Panel on Wall - ??

So a couple months ago I mounted my flat panel on the wall.

Anyone know the requirements to run the hdmi and optical cabling behind the wall?

What about the power cord?

Just go to Home Depot and get a Wiremold flat panel cord cover kit; they're paintable too. That's what I did; I've got the power cord, HDMI cable, two sets of component cables, one set of composite cables and two audio ICs all under the one cover. Its much easier than putting holes in the wall.

or.. if you really want to put it in the wall, cut a hole behind the screen, cut another at the floor, then fish the cables through... you can find plates with the right size hole in it to cover the rough hole..

I tried the Wiremold routine for the master bedroom LCD's. When it came to finishing off the living room, I had looked into the PowerBridge as an option, but settled on getting a similar product available at MonoPrice. I liked the fact that it combined the power and cabling into one remodel fixture. They are half of the cost of the PB solution and DataComm Electronics provides lots of infrastructure components for many of the wireless carriers I work with. Plus you can get additional recessed outlets to daisy chain as you would your normal outlets. I also went with some of their wall plates to accommodate all my cabling. I’m now going to replace the Wiremold install in the bedroom, since it is a much cleaner look.

Here is how the LCD's look hiding all the power and cabling. I have yet to install the Definitive Mythos speakers or mount the two 22" LCD's we will use for monitoring our security cameras while we are in the living room. BTW, the two 42" were the wife's idea, as she loves football, and did not like the PIP routine! :thmbsp:

My father grew up in an early 20th century farmhouse that had been expanded, remodeled, plumbed and wired at various times. When they were remodeling the living room when he was fairly young (early teens, I think), they found a thin extension cord in the wall as a significant portion of the room's wiring. Constant overloading had burned the insulation to a crisp. Grandpa was apparently highly un-amused.
