Right, so it may be your kiddies that get into those one day and guess what? There's cool stuff in there from Pops! That would be a trip for them.

With the bass coming from inside these things, I was concerned with the rattle that might develop. :D

Cant wait to see that veneer when its all done. Whatever you do, DONT stain the zebrawood. Just give it some tung or boiled lineseed oil.. :yes:

I have some "natural" Watco Danish Oil that looked pretty good when I put it on the sample.
I wasn't planing on staining the Zebrawood.

Oh yes! These things will be going to my kids one day! Just as my Kenwood KA-9100 setup that was my mom's will one day go to them!

I'm thinking I want to stain the veneer or whatever we get because after seeing the danish oil it just looks way too light to me. I like it to be dark.

What I plan on using to power these speakers will be my newly restored KA-9100. But until the 9100 is restored, my Kenwood KR-770 will be powering them.

The only thing that needs repair is the KA-9100, which you know will be restored

I wouldnt laith...Wood always looks the best with just its natural color and figure. If you dont like danish oil, why not try some tung oil. That might be a smidgen darker. But stain, no way. Any wood with a wild grain pattern always looks cheesy when its stained darker....IMO. :yes:

Oh, I see. I guess me being from the south is all why I like staining wood. Most people from the south like their wood to be stained a dark or light color but anyway.

I'm sorry, but its going to be the Hafler, its about ten times more much way better than a KR-770 with a bias issue.

If you are very convinced that you will use the KR-770, go ahead, bring it down we can have an A/B amp comparison.

But when you take it home and crank it for the first time on the KR-770, I'm not going to help you hunt down any damaged drivers... :no:

Will, remember, the only issue with the KR-770 is the bias and all it needs to have is the bias and offset re-adjusted remember.
 
I updated the crossover, this is what it will look like when I'm finished:
Looks like I forgot to label that I am replacing the two 15 ohm resistors on the midrange with two new 15 ohm resistors. They are mills.
Also, the two caps will be bypassed with some Claritycaps.

Looks good, but I'm still starting to think back on the whole lead thing okay.
 
Laith, I got the 8 gauge wire finally terminated in some gold banana plugs.
I'm going to use this at the DIY fest, but I recommend you get some better wire when these come home.

FYI the 8 gauge and banana's only cost me $23 for a 20 foot pair.
