Hello, I am working on a comprehensive guide to FM antennas.

I would like some full color photos of some vintage and discontinued antennas.

Any suggestions for vintage antennas that I may have missed are welcome or suggestions for the guide. Its a work in progress. I plan on doing quite a bit of hands on testing over the next few months...and incorporate those comparisons into the guide.
 
I meant to take a picture of my APS13 for you yesterday. There are plenty of vintage antenna's still on towers in the neighborhood. I just have no clue what brand and models they are.

mmm... if Punker X don't know, probably no-one knows! :-)

FWIW, I really haven't seen the vast variety of FM antennae that there were over the years for TV antennae. Yagis, crossed dipoles, and those "S-shaped" dipoles are pretty much what I've seen (including the old Allied, Lafayette, and R/S catalogs that clutter my abode).

As to whether the OP has leprosy... well, I'd suggest a trip to the family physician to be sure (unless peripheral body parts are already falling off -- in which case, yeah, probably).
 
Thanks a bunch! If you get the notion, pics of other FM antennas around the neighborhood, would be fantastic too! I can puzzle them out as best I can, from there.
 
IMO, Channel Master makes the best antenna stuff.

In fact I once used a CM tube preamp booster up on the pole just below the antenna. The power supply sat behind the TV's I had at the time.

If you get a new one, you have to take the screws off the bottom and reset the FM trap to "off".
 
Thanks Hepcat, Im going to add the CM 7777 and the Winegard 269 amplifiers to the recommended Odds and Ends list.

Maybe I should add 300ohm connection amps in there as well.

That's about the best pic I'll get, all I have is my cell-phone for pics and I remembered this thread when I was out throwing the ball for my dog.:D
 
i have a magnum (something) antenna preamp with a tuneable preselctor. PM me if you'd like pics of that.
 
Here is my DIY J Pole antenna not sure how vintage it is since I made it back in 2006

Made from 1/2" copper water pipe with a fiberglass fence post in the center to stiffen it. And mounted 18 feet off the ground (to the base) it works quite well
 
Here is a picture of my vintage Winegard. It is actually from the 70s but sat in the rafters of my garage until I put it up last year. If you look real close you can see the W's on the elements. It has been thru 2 big wind storms this year, hence a couple of bent elements. Still hauls in the stations.

I'm chagrined to report that I recycled the two I had early this year when I had to move. I'm using a j-pole design copied from here:

I liked the integrated coax connector (see figure 1b); looking for ways to get the impedance up to a proper 75 ohms and making it more broadband. The ultimate tweak would be to silverplate it. It was fairly easy to build.

Mark W. thanks for the pics of the J Pole. I will have to put a link to a DIY J Pole. Any recommendations on one that has been tweeked for FM? I know those J Poles can be a bit tricky.

TomRich22, do you know what model that is? Is it a VHF or specifically an FM antenna?
