Speakerlab Seven restoration

Well, I have come back.

Sorry everyone for not posting or calling or anything. I have been really busy the past few days. I have been school shopping, been to athletic meetings and all that stuff. I haven't been on the computer in almost 4 days. And now school starts back up tomorrow.

I'm okay, and sorry I never showed up on Saturday. It was my fault I never called you Will or posted on AK.

Can ya'll forgive me?

And trust me, I care about this project A LOT! I've just been really busy.

I just finished reading all 18 pages of this thread. It has to be one of the most entertaining threads I have seen :thmbsp: You guys are doing a great job! Can't wait to see the finished speakers. Keep up the great work.

BTW where did you get the blue grill fabric from?

I have used those same tweeter drivers before- hope you have an L-pad handy cause they can be HOT!!! They sound good but are on the LOUD side of life!

I hope so, the old tweeters are gone and I have spent all the money, there is no going back!

I have them padded down with a couple resistors, I think it should be fine. If not I'll swap them out with something of a different value, resistors are cheap.

It had to be shipped to them, and then shipped to our location.
Cool yer beans dude.

Our only expenses left are the lead and whatever we do for the feet (I will talk to you about that on saturday)
 
Got both bases off, installing the magnetic grill guides now.
Sanding and filling too, we will paint the baffles tomorrow.
 
Those Crites horns as well as the T-350 horn look like the same "horn" as the EV T-35 and they did back mount them in the EV cabinets. I know for sure with their Sentry II Studio Monitors from the 70's. Also, my 7's have stuffing in the cabinets as I read in your threads where one person mentions that his cabs had no stuffing. Just following along guys, keep up the fantastic work. Can't wait to see them but more I'd just love to hear them. I'm appreciating these 7's everytime I turn them up a little more or change from one source to the next. Still having fun with mine for sure, it's just beginning!

My original Speakerlab One kit speakers came with that Blue grill cloth. They had the fabric on big rolls in the Speakerlab store on Roosevelt. (I got the hideous red fabric when I traded up to a pair of 2's, Brown for 3's, back to Blue for the Super 7s)

So when you ordered a speaker kit, you could choose the color (I remember brown, red, blue) and they would cut the fabric from the roll and bundle it in with the components, pre-cut baffle, the wonderful tube of silicon glue and caulking gun, cabinets. ...all for about the cost of a 2009 tank of gas. :thmbsp:
