Yeah.... No. Results are fun though.
So here is the scoop, we MIGHT be able to get them all done soon. I put Watco Danish Oil natural on our glue sample, and it looked very very good even with just one coat.

It's really not hard.
Coat the surface in 2 layers of wood glue allowing each to dry thoroughly, then put a thinner layer on and let it get tacky. When that sets up you get your veneer piece which you have cut twice and measured once (
) and lay it down. We used our iron on "cotton" or a little hotter without anything in between the veneer and the iron (don't try this with vinyl veneer) let it sit and cool for a while, before then it will come up pretty easy if you pull it, this is normal.
How you join the pieces is really up to you, my dad came up with a really genius way to do this. He will have to tell you, I do not understand it.
What really helps is if your veneer does not cost almost $4/sq ft.

What if you want to put wood veneer over vinyl veneer? Do you have to peel the vinyl first?

It's probably a good idea. Don't quote me on this but with vinyl veneer I think you would want to steam it off with an iron and a cloth between it (so you don't melt it)
