Hey, it's my old Fisher thread back from the dead!
I think that case will clean up nicely, the veneer on Fisher cases is relatively thick. Hit it with some 150, 220, and 400 grit sandpaper and give it a nice satin oil finish. You can run across knobs and caps on Ebay, or you can drop by the AK classifieds and post a wanted ad. The manual could be a tough thing to come by, the KX-200 was a kit amp, so you might be limited to a schematic. Not entirely sure on that though, I think some were factory wired. I do know that the KX-200 was a great integrated amp, well worth a restoration.

Custom made cabinets I bought from an old man back in february. Those contains an SP12B and a TW-35 Wolverine each.
I had to redo the look as they were really awful. There was also a dead diaphragm on a tweeter, restored since.

The 1969 is Solid State and both the 65's are tube hybrids. SS in basement, Tubes in Living Room and Dining Room.

Since the above post I've added a 500TX ($30.00 CL) and a 400 from AUDIODON that I finished the Restore on. The 400 is my main in the Living room along with the Futura, and the 500TX is the Main in the Bedroom.

Comparing the 500-TX and the 400. The 400 is a good basic unit. The 500-TX sounds like the 400 with some additional.....I want to say harshness but it's not really harshness....more forward with the mids and highs. Sensitivity of the tuner is better with the 500TX with the AFC kicked in.
They sound surprisingly similar except the 500 has the slightly more forward mid/high.

Aage, your photos of your old FM-1000 are perhaps the best soft-core Fisher porn I've yet encountered. It must have been difficult to part with such a magnificent example of Avery's flagship tuner. The photos betray a deep affection for the subject that is highly contagious. Unfortunately, I happen to know where one is and will probably be sending an email to the owner to see if it might be for sale. Thanks?

My ears are bleeding
As of this afternoon I joined the Fisher family. Acquired my first Fisher receiver, a RS-1080, refurbished, tuned and in good working order. She's heavy for sure. I'll be doing the usual clean-up and inspection before lighting her up. Can't wait. Hope I got a good deal, only $100 for a clean working unit.
