I just dropped of my beloved Supreme 600 for service. I hope it will be an easy fix. And I hope it will not take to long time, my Electrocompaniet combo is not as good as the Supreme 600. :worried:

hi guys -
cost was right around $800 + shipping both directions...i am not trying to be mysterious about the cost - we keep a running tab with chris and sometimes i am paying for more than one thing at a time.
kids and christmas has had me too busy - and tipsy - to sign-on....but i am getting it together.

New owner of a 700c here It has one ding on the faceplate, some rust spots on the top cover but otherwise is not too bad - cleaned up quite good. It is in need of a recap badly - the treble is very veiled, so much so that the 12KHz high filter does not have any effect! The 7 KHz setting cuts some treble off. Everything works, no scratchy controls at all. The headphone output was pretty healthy on my Koss Pro-4AAA too which I was not expecting as the impedance of the AAA is 220 ohms. I tested it with both LP's and CD's.

I have never seen a black Supreme either but these look like they have been modified 
All the fine work in creating the grain, the fluting on the knobs, all the detail is obscured by black......I don't like it at all.
The best way to modify equipment like the Supremes would be to make everything reversible easily and as inconspicuous as possible if at all the mod needs to be done.
I guess if the faceplate was totally abused painting would be a way to go though.

if my memory serves me right, that was the case with these amps.
i think it looks good, though had they been mine, i would have opted for high gloss white

What black supreme are you referring too? ...id like to see a picture of what your talking about
Agreed.I'm super impressed with how they retained the etched lettering etc. :tresbon:
Is the finish true Black or some reflective effect of the panel(it's not stock)?

Maybe it was Black Ops Kenwood 700 series.
Yes, the faceplate painting is indeed very good....because the lettering is all engraved it is easier to refinish units and transform them if they were scratched up. I think bjarnetv knows more about these black units.
Special hello to Theo and Glenn. I think Theo single handedly managed to bring the 700c into the spotlight....and increased its $$ worth in the process! Before I bought the 700c I scoured AK and actually found that these units went for two c-notes in 2001!
I bought it based on what I saw in the thread about the recapped 700c Glenn had posted. I will post a mini review after I get it recapped....although I will not be able to use the same language as Theo
It'll be in plain prose....unless of course it evokes all the emotion in me :jawdrop:
I am especially interested in how it measures up against the Parasound. We'll see how it goes....
