Marantz Service Manual error thread

Thanks Tom, I appreciate it. She was out a little bit - seems to have made a difference in the heat output. Might be my imagination but I'd swear it sounds smoother now.

This is Mike Miller by the way, the same one on your waiting list. Looking patiently forward to next year!

Please add this one for the 2220B

C709 and C710 should be 47uf 50V, not the listed 500V-that would be too scary! (On the P700 Main Amp Board)

There is a glaring error in the schematics on the 2330B. Note that the left end of R742 and R792 are shown tied to ground, and the right end is tied to the positive power supply rail. Those poor little 10Ω 1/4W resistors wouldn't stand a chance.

Thank you all for helping out in this thread. I've seen more than a few questions answered by this thread already. Keep 'em coming!

2270 SN<3901 Idle current or bias adjust:
Meter set to read DC mV, connect from J753 to J754, set R763 for 5mV

2270 SN>3900 Idle current or bias adjust:
Meter set to read DC mV, connect from J754 to J760, set R763 for 10mV

Hi,

are you sure about the 10mV and the pin connections in the serials above 3900?

Just asking, because I have a 2270 right here now and adjusting.

I have the service manual and the service bulletin M-2270-2 says just:

""Idle current adjustement: Connect a VTVM between pin terminals J754 and J756." (for serial numbers 3901 and above only)"

Nothing about the mV change from 5mV to 10 mV....and different pins.

See also catrafters post here.

Just wondering. Thank you!

Jan,
If you look at the schematic, you will see that the indicated measurement points are across both resistors so that the voltage will be twice what it would be across one resistor for the same bias current.

Tom

Ah, I got it!

I can choose the pins, that are easier reachable and adjust either 5 or 10mV. Whatever fits to the pins.

Thank you Tom! You are THE man! :thmbsp:

Hi,

I think, the manual for the 2330 is wrong:

The idle-current is adjusted with R727 (not R726).

The DC-offset is aligned with R726 (not R727).

As it is written in the SM of the 2285, which has the same amp design.

2265B parts list error

The [2265B] service manual does have them [filters] at 1000uF (Ref Des is C003 and C004) on page 32. But when I look at the actual components they are clearly marked at 10000uF. I'll just stick with 10000uF.

2220B service manual parts list has the balance control pot as 33 ohm, schematic shows it as 500 kohm. The part itself is 500 kohm, so the schematic is correct & parts list wrong.

Not a service manual error per se, but some 2265B models have the tuner board from a 2330B installed. I was just reminded of this the other day.

I have a 2265B & 2285B, both are very different from Schematics...
specially the P200 & the wiring from/to P400 S401.
*but both are almost identical inside, exept 3 S401 diferent wirings, front panel switches, the P700 amp board including heat sink, main caps, & half rectifiers.

to the serials no. i have there was 34 or 36 revisions,

2270- Here's a case where polarity is reversed on the board but the schematic is correct in the manual:

This is why you can't take what the writing on the board says as gospel.

AK Data Base for 2245 cap list is missing a 10uf 50V cap on the P/S Board. Can that be added? There are 8 caps but only 7 are listed.

2285B tone board - CE40

This is marked backwards on the board's silkscreen and in the manual. The schematic is correct.

2238B Notes

On 2238B, a couple notes:

1. On the tone board, the manual says capacitors CE07 and CE08 are 10uf/35V (tolerance +100%/-10%), but the actual CE07 and CE08 in the unit are 22uf/35V, which is what the schematic calls for. So I guess the schematic is correct and the parts list is in error.

2. Note that capacitors CE27 and CE28 on the toneboard are NONPOLAR electrolytics, 1uf/50V (both parts list and schematic are correct here).
