Yes they are 330E, 2W resistors. Voltage at that point D5 is output of regulator chip, 28V (which will be dropped into 100mH coils to 18V and go to PASS B1).

From there I want to power up Volume Control and Selector boards which have on-board 7805 regulators. It drop extra 20V in each of those resistor and provide to both boards separately. There 7805 is happy handling 8V to 5V conversion.

Regarding Selector board-
  • It has silver contact relays.
  • Weather proof signal contacts.
  • shorter signal path.
  • click free contact inside relay.
  • easy to extend wires than selector shaft.

Hi Phillip,
It will update only after it reaches to your local post office.I have inquired this at my local post office they said that USPS doesn't update point to point tracking for Registered mail.Point to point tracking is available only for Speedpost(EMS).You should receive your boards within 2-3 days.

Those bands are orange??? They looked brown to me.

On other fronts, the new CNC and SP boards arrived today. Very nice!
 
I delivered another CNC last night. This one to my buddy who owns a used LP store.

I promised him to be amused and amazed. The CNC in the meat tub, like HT's, amused him. He kept picking it up and laughing at it.

Then we listened. It out played his Rega amp phono stage. I had tried it in my system and there was no hum at all. It hummed like a mother without the ground wire attached, it wasn't in my system so I had no ground lug for it. I ended tieing it to the input RCA jack shield and tightening it down with the mounting nut. I should have taken a picture of it first. The wires were hanging out of the tub through slits but the power switch was screwed into the side and nutted down.

He is very pleased, and amazed. Next I need him to get into a tubed phono stage.

Hi all,
I have made an online complaint on Indian post regarding non delivery of PCBs.I had sent total 21 parcels to US out of which 5 are pending.Indian post have forwarded this complaint to USPS.According to USPS all PCBs were reached New york on 24/12/2011.Indian post assured me to take a followup with USPS.I hope you should be able to receive your PCBs soon.
Edit: Just saw the status on USPS,two more PCBs have arrived on respective locations,now only 3 are pending.

I went to my local post office and the lady assured me sometimes registered mail from India can take a month to reach it's destination, so I am not concerned until the week after next.
 
My preamp crapped out on the left channel today (hopefully a Deoxit fix) so I'm sweating it a little. I guess I'll have to lug the Sansui out for pre duties.:D

I'm not worried. The boards will arrive. Thanks Sachin!
 
CNC Loadind cap experiment.

Update: My CNC is running from last 2 weeks and now time to review it again. I found that low and high ends are little opened. But still that high are not up to mark.

I thought this may be issue with cartridge loading. I am using shure mm 97xe.

Simply changing recommended 47K loading resistance to 62K made life little easy. but not that much. Then I fitted this piece of IC sockets to experiment with different C values for loading at R=47K. I arrived to this conclusion considering manufacturer recommended C,R values stands good for neutral response from cartridge.
This was the extra mod for loading capacitor.

I experimented with 56pf, 68pf, 82pf, 120pf and 150pf. At 68pf I found the missing air of crash plate. Now its more live. This was tested with heavy metal rock music which has this frequency present.

As I read at tnt forum this cartridge responses accurately flat at loading with 47K resistance and 250pf capacitor parallel to it. This means my wires from tonearm to RCA may be contributing somewhere approx. 180pF (This is wild guess without any measurement.)

They must have come in on Saturday, I didn't check the box until Yesterday.
They arrived safe and sound. Man, they are beautiful! What a nice professional job of manufacturing, very good clean traces, crisp silkscreen lettering nice clean edges. VERY happy camper!
