Show Me Your Sansui!

Thanks, when I first saw them on the ebay ad I thought someone had messed up when they said Sansui, I didn't know that Sansui had made a line of speakers of this nature. Their pretty good size speakers, that piano behind them is a pretty large square grand piano.

New in the house...

Does anybody know a bulletproof way to give my speakers back the good old original look? They are more or less mint but they look a "tired". Regards

It is real wood veneer? If so, try some Howard's Restore-a finish followed by some Feed'n'Wax. Worked wonders on my HPM-100's.

i just went thru this entire thread in one sitting. i had forgotten how beautiful 1960-70s Sansui is, definitely the best looking Japanese gear of the time. Pioneer a close second tho. I'd give a pinky to stumble upon a yard sale G series receiver or BA series component!

Lots of great gear in this thread. I think Sansui had the best industrial designs of the era. These are the Sansuis that ate my living room :D

My first piece of Sui equipment!

I guess I am going to have to change my forum name as I no longer have the HK 930. I picked up a near mint 881 receiver. It has lots of power and it is in your face. As you can see I have a Mac 4100. It has lots of power but it is a little more subtle. I really like this 881. The smell took me back to my days of trolling audio stores and wishing I could afford this level of receiver. $535 in 1974-76 to me was a lot of money. I think it meshes well with my Klipsch Fortes and Forte II's. I like the looks better than the slightly newer ones including the G- series but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I certainly will join the chorus that sings the virtue of this brand! My ears are happy I became one of ya!:thmbsp:

I picked one of these beautiful receivers up lately as well. It sounds awesome. Very warm, dynamic and clear. Nothin' wrong with it at all. Nicely sized transformer in there, as well! The lovely thing about these receivers is not many look at this series of Sansui and they usually go quite cheap. A very, very valuable unit to have and an awesome entry into the Sansui brand. :)
