Good eye there Celt- I also agree on the driver selection- which is a very good one! That mid was used by several top names like Infinity and others. Chances are these sound pretty good, perhaps not real efficient with those rubber surrounds, but probably quite smooth in general responce. I would vertainly be tempted if the $$$ was right.
Some driver combinations and manufactuires offered great sound. Seas and Phillips had some excellent products to offer the big names and made their reputations what they asr today in vintage gold gear!

Yeah, but I can't anything on the company. Built in Denver, Co, virtually no info online... so there's probably little chance of seeing any down here in Fl.

RMS intrigues me, though.

Maybe someone on here owns a pair.

VINTAGE RMS 5000M2
Circa Late 1970's early '80's
MADE IN DENVER, COLORADO

Very similar to both a pair of EV EVS-16B and RTR III's we recently had.

Features include:

- 3-Way, Bass Reflex design
- 12" SEAS, Belgium made Woofer with long life, Butyl rubber surround #4D1265
- 4" SEAS, Belgium made, sealed Midrange #AD5060 / SQ8
- 1" Dome Belgium made, Philips Tweeter #ADD161 T8
- Tweeter attenuator
- 3" Tuned Bass Port

Capable of BIG volume, very 'Pounding' low end, and appropriate mid to upper end. Great "all around" sound and get very loud! These are very "balanced" sounding speakers, with great presence and tight, punchy low-end and good power handling characteristics.

Each measures 25" high x 15" wide x 12" deep and weighs 40 lbs each.

Those are pretty sweet looking old school speakers......... bet they thump pretty weel also !

Yeah, with a 12" SEAS woofer, I bet they do rock. Interesting you don't hear much about the Company. I'm wondering what other models they had. This is the 5000M2....

I just saw a pair of 4000-M-2 for less than $20 but passed on them.
The cabinets look very solid and heavy.
Not sure about the sound though.
 
These are almost identical to a pair that I've got. These have a Richard Allan CG12 and the Phillips duo. I believe they were put together by a company in Melbourne, Aust.

Great speakers; just matched them as the rears to my big speakers and the sound is phenomenal.

I just bought a pair of RMS speakers at GW for $10. Refoaming the drivers now. There isn't a model number on them anywhere, but they are small, 2-way speakers with an 8" driver and tweeter. - Kind of their version of the EPI 100 - I live in Denver and had never heard of these. They seem pretty solid and like a certain amount of care went in to making them. Am anxious to hear them when I'm done.

The interesting thing is that they have hardwood cabinet. The baffle is particle board. But from what I can tell, they aren't veneered. It's solid.
 
Attached are photos of my RMS speakers. Drivers are original, but reformed. Grill cloth is not original.

I have no idea what the model numbers would be. My friend speculates that "RMS" stands for Rocky Mountain Speakers - which makes a lot of sense.

Never heard of RMS speakers before reading this. And I though Aztec was the only Denver speaker maker.... the first ones in the thread look pretty nice, kind of like Avids with those Philips tweets.
 
looks like a nice set of speakers. that Phillips tweeter was my least favorite of their line. i am not a fan of Mylar domes...

I picked up a pair at Gw and the drivers are missing. I am having no luck finding the drivers even using the model no. from another post on this thread. Is there anyway when you get a chance you could let me know if there is a model # on the woofers themselves?
