Show Me Your Sansui!

this thing on?

I've just established an account after browsing several pages of threads in several different forums - I expect I'll be spending most of my time here with the Sansui enthusiasts, as I have issues to address with some components -

capacitors, huh? glue, eh?

anyway - as way of introduction, here's what we listen thru - I bought the AU/TU 717 new in 1980, followed shortly there after with the SC-3110 - a few years ago I built in a rack and storage for the equipment and picked up a few other 'vanity' pieces - the AX-7 and SE-5 - and a BA-F1

here's a shot of a Speaker Lab 'K' that I built in 1978 (there's another one in the other corner) - next to an ongoing trim project - much furniture has been moved in and out over these 35 years, but those speakers have always had a pair of corners....

I sure there are audiophiles who would turn up their noses and sniff, but I am very happy with the quality of the sound (I can always challenge them to 'loud' and 'deep') - and frankly, the system is at its best when I cut out all the extraneous components and drive the speakers with just the 717 - but - VU meters! flashing lights! levers! knobs! fuss! more is better! right?

anyway, thanks in advance for all the knowledge that has been shared in these threads by the several experts - I feel a modest confidence I can resurrect that 3110 - and then there's my shop system (just a 1000x and there's another Sansui component I can't remember the # that's kinda a quad adapter - it fuzzes on one channel) - I think I may start with it -

see you all on the internet - cheers!
David

thank you - I won't say anything more about the speakers here, since they are not Sansui -

If you are interested, I will start a thread at the 'Speakers' forum -

Qs-100

here's a few pictures of a Sansui QS-100 4 channel rear amplifier - I used this in my shop for a few years and it developed fuzziness and distortion on one channel - it was fun while it lasted -

I think it might be a good candidate to 'cut my teeth' on attempting a repair - if I start a thread would the experts be willing to walk me thru a resurrection?

I'll dig out my file, I think I might have a schematic -
