Finally a roof top antenna!

After 15 years in my home finally connected my roof top antenna to my Fisher R200 tuner. Of course, up until the last year or so I didn't even have a tuner, but since getting back into tuners because of the great radio that we have in the San Francisco Bay area, I've been listening a lot. Was using assorted indoor antennas, and then a Bic Beam Box, and that was ok, but I finally decided to get the dangling wire hooked into the tuner today and man, what a difference. Stations I could barely get in I now get loud and clear, and stations I couldn't get in I get strong reception. It really is the best option if one is serious about listening to good FM broadcasts. But then, most of you already knew that.

i use a Channel Master for my tv reception, and it doubles nicely for FM.
Beats paying for cable !
I have 2 signal amps on it to boost reception.
This stuff is getting harder and harder to find.
 
The main ones are KCSM for jazz, KDFC for classical(this is one that I could barely get in, and never in stereo, now it's very strong and in stereo), KPFA public radio with great country and bluegrass shows on Sundays, KQED public radio, KPOO for soul, reggae and jazz(this is the big surprise...only 160 watts from SF, tiny community radio, but my antenna must be pointed just right because it comes in as strong as if it was a mile away), and KCEA, also a tiny station (100 watts) that programs only 30's/40's big band and jump music. I could get it in my car, but never at home. Now it comes in with moderate strength. It's about 50 miles away.

So as you can see, lotsa good stuff, and it sounds great through the R-200, which I think is one of the best vintage tube tuners around. Should've hooked up the big antenna a long time ago.
 
what kind of antenna is that ? The oakland hills in the bay area is probably one of the best places to be an FM audiophile -- aim your antenna down toward Palo Alto and San Jose and check out KKUP and KFJC
 
Your list and mine are much alike but I also enjoy KALW and sometimes KALX. I'm in the LA area for a day or two ... What a FM wasteland it is by comparison!

Haven't a clue what kind it is. I was hoping you could tell me:D Came with the house. Probably at least 20-30 years old. I can get KFJC in, though not as well as I would like. Need to play around with the antenna a bit. Don't know KKUP.

KALX can't get in at all. Antenna is pointed in the opposite direction so even though I'm only 11 miles away I can't get it. Again, gonna get up on the roof this weekend hopefully and rotate it a bit while my wife is tuning in stations and we'll see if we can't get a few more stations in.

KFOG...great history but a bit too commercial for me these days.

Sberger that's a beautiful FM200R, I have a FM 200B and X202B, love em both. I too had a beam box starting out, now have a similar outdoor antenna as your. Great combo..

Thanks. Really a great tuner. Pulls in stations like crazy and sounds amazing.
