Beautiful job. I notice you even pulled the power supply.
All of the CA-X10 series had a family design look to them. I personally would rather have a bit of extra space for the electronics than see them squeezed in like sardines getting baked. Between my father and I we've owned the 410, 610, 810 and 1010. All of them sounded fine, but the 610 did the least for me perhaps. No idea why at this remove.

Hello all, I'm back. Took a while, but now I'm back.
Now, during this process I saw that the amp was previously a bit mistreated. First the transformer was giving a huge "hum" (it was at 220V, I put it to 240V and the hum stopped). There was a brutal attempt to open the under cover, some connectors were not tight back to the frame, the left VU meter is unfortunatelly broken, the input selector is destroyed, the VU bulbs are gone and the amp was not playing anyway...
So, not being a restoration master, I tried at least to give it some sign of life by cleaning first, then checking wires, broken traces, etc...
Let's see some pictures during the process...

I had started with the main amp circuit board by cleaning...
I washed that board with warm water and left it dry a couple of days...
Then started to remove some components to get rid of the dried glue...

From the top of the page you see that transistor with greem background...
Now, I cleaned it and took a close-up pic to show the rough surface of those old TO-220s.

I thought I could replace all the components touched by that glue, but they were not afected at all and the transistors and diodes, all of them were still good. I got the replacements, but decided to leave the originals...

The Vol/Bal pot, the switches I cleaned with alcohol. The broken input selector (last pic) I decided to swap with Phono selecor as they have the same 5 position steps. You can see the code number sequence - KA500091-90-92...

The beautiful "blue Nichicons" electrolytics, present in many MANY audio gear - seem to be from 1976-77 era, but now have to go... Few Wimas will replace the BPs and low capacitance ones...
Noted that the CA-810 does have Nichicon ceramic caps...
Old aluminium vs. new aluminium... For this recap I took some Nippons and BC Vishay, waiting for the big 15,000uF 63V..

Pretty easy the CA-810 as an unit to recap...
But.... the VRs were a funny thing. One is "flat", horizontal. The other is vertical and reachble from the lateral right side because of the input board. And I bought two XA ones...

Well, the lamp board is a bit difficult here... I still don't have voltage for the Power On LED (the red one). I just followed John's, aka Skippy124, post and was able to have VU meters back illuminated again (later I'll post a picture). But I think I might use brighter LEDs here... Or even easier, another resistor value...
