Netflix Streaming Finds

The Harry Nilsson documentary is wonderful.

Through Netflix I have discovered Breaking Bad! A slow moving train wreck. I can't stop watching.
 
I discovered a new series on Netflix last night and it reminded me of this old thread... Seen it in "My Suggestions" forever but always avoided adding it to my queue because of the Frodo/Potter/Rings dude but I was wrong. The series is called "Wilfred" and out of total boredom I gave the first episode a shot. Then I found myself watching 5 more episodes... I don't even know how to explain it and instead of reading reviews just turn it on and see what happens.
 
I discovered Wilfred when researching cameras. It's been shot on a Nikon D800 DSLR rather than a traditional film or digital video camera. It's interesting. Can't say that I love it, but I enjoy it.

The latest Michael Apted documentary, 56 Up, is now streaming. :)

For those not familiar with the series, in 1964 a group of 7 year old English school children were interviewed about their lives, hopes, dreams and fears. Every seven years since, the film makers reconnected with the group. As the decades have passed, the films have become an incredible time capsule of not just the people involved, but also of humanity in 20th century Western civilization.

Highly recommended.

other than DVDs Netflix is currently all I have and to be honest it pretty much sates my desire to watch the tube. Just watched Troll Hunter and enjoyed it!
 
Columbo is now streaming on Netflix. I just started it two days ago.

After last winter, there's no way I'm gonna cough up dough to watch the same crap day after day on cable.

I have cable for internet- that's it. The rest is DVDs, LDs, VHS, Netflix, the local library, Amazon Instant Video, Crackle, and so on. I love my Roku.
 
A couple of fairly interesting and entertaining travel documentaries have recently been added to Netflix. Long Way Round and Long Way Down chronicle the motorcycle journeys of Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor from London to New York (traveling east) and from Scotland to Africa, respectively.
 
I think I have seen all I care to see on Netflix. Either that or their poor search function makes it difficult to find movies...

I am almost to the point of dumping them.

I've gotten to the point where I don't watch anything other than Netflix or movies

Really hate watching regular TV now where there's a ton of ads and you have to wait a week to watch the next episode.
 
Just watched two fantastic foreign films;

War of Arrows (2011) It is set during the 2nd invasion of Korea by Manchu Qing Empire in 1636. it is the story of a brother who is a master archer out to rescue his sister who has been captured by invading Manchurians

13 Assassins (2010) a Japanese Samurai move set in Japan in 1844 and 13 Samurai warriors are out to avenge the deaths of men, woman and children of their clan at the hand of a evil noblemen.
 
British Television (and some Australian too), and I'm not just talking about Monty Python or Fawlty Towers, but lots of newer stuff that's just great!
 
Frank and Robot.

An ailing (with failing memory) thief receives a robot as a companion and minder. He then enlists the robot's help as an accomplish in going back to his old ways. A quiet, well acted buddy movie. Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon.

Well this one is no longer on Netflix I believe,but it is on YouTube for free. A classic 80's teen movie. It's called Tuff Turf. It stars James Spader, Robert Downey Jr., and The Jim Carroll Band. ( I'm not kidding). Also Kim Richard from Real Housewives. Spader sings a lovely song to her called "I walk the night". (I'm not kidding a). Did I mention that there's a dance sequence to a Jim Carroll song? ( I'm not kidding). A must see.

I have had my ROKU for less than a year and have been hooked on streaming NETFLIX with it. I am just getting into "Long Way Round". It is a great travelogue series. Highly recommended - especially if you've ever toured on a motorcycle or traveled through a country where you didn't know the language.
