Pioneer SA-8800 schematics or parts list request

Hi Everyone,

I purchased SA-8800 yesterday; front panel, case and knobs are perfect condition but power amp section was repaired by unqualified tech. Some transistors are not original 2sa-xxx 2sc-xxx series, some of them used as European similar ones.

I would like to restore it. I need the schematics or the parts list of SA-8800.

I found a schematics in the internet but letters were illegible. Also have tried to download from wpcs.net but it was a bad link.

Could someone help me where can I download it free?

Not sure about free but www.stereomanuals.com will sell you a very good quality copy, used them myself several times.

With regards to the 8800, the big test is does it work? I use equivalents because originals are virtually impossible to find here in the UK, my equipment always works perfect and I've never had a complaint about anything I've sold. Is there a specific problem with it? bad soldering, broken tracks etc?

The output devices on the sa-8800 are the same as the sa-7800, which are the 2sa1075 and 2sc2525. These cases have a very unusual configuration.

IF the unit is working, leave the outputs alone, because the replacements that were found for the sa-7800 a while back wouldn't FIT, they were about 3 mm too big in every dimension, and wouldn't shoehorn in between the pc board and the other fittings mounted on the heatsink.

We eventually found some very expen$ive replacements,
which is documented in this thread, starting at post 64

They are built by digicorp to the original specs and guaranteed for form. fit and function. The company personnel that I dealt with were very helpful and pleasant. Do an AK search, we recently had some manuals posted and I think yours was among them. It's worth a try.

technut offered scans of the owners and service manuals for the sa-8800 in February, and it may be the service manual I sent serkar a (sendspace) PM about.
Otherwise there are two service manual scans available, and I'll get copies of both.

Hi TiberiuS,

Some transistors on the both channels of the power amp section (gwh-115 assy) has been replaced by similars or equivalents eg: 2sc2565 instead of 2525.
The present condition is left channel is OK but right channel become gargling when I increase volume. Right channel become normal after power off and on.
I am suspecting idle current is mis-adjusted. I have to check the dc-offset.
My problem is SA-8800 has two pots for idle current adjustment I have never done before. I should follow up the procedure if I find the service instruction. Other amplifiers which has the single pot I have done it easily and succeeded before.
There are dirty soldering, I will clean them up.
