I have had a recent desire to listen heavily to Tim Weisberg. Can't explain it, but I hadn't had any of his releases out of their sleeves in years.. Brings back fond memories.

Barney Kessel - Poll Winners with Ray Brown and Shelly Manne

Tonight it's the 1961 Grammy winning recording, Stan Kenton's West Side Story. Mellow mellophoniums, blazing trumpets, suave saxes, brash trombones all combining to make Johnny Richard's masterful arrangements of Leonard Bernstein's score come alive in a totally original way. This is a must listen.
