I just picked up a pair of this little beauts and man are they an amazing speaker. They do everything right. Great lows, detailed mids, highs with plenty of sizzle. Gotta love seeing a modern day version of the Burhoe inverted dome tweeter...
These are exactly the speaker system I was looking for...a small, well built monitor (30 pound each) that could perform at a high level across all facets of the sound spectrum....
Just for comparison, these are replacing the a/d/s L810's; a very fine speaker....IMO these outperform the a/d/s by a fairly wide margin.
These do not IMO have the classic New England sound at all. Instead I'm hearing higher ended British Monitor...

N.E.A.R. was bought out by Bogen www.bogen.com/. N.E.A.R. had bought all the tooling and remaining inventory as well as the I.P. and all other assets of Bozak except the name - big mistake. They offered the N.E.A.R. based on drivers using the technology but were not the Bozak drivers. While supplies lasted, they offered Bozak replacement parts and even offered new 302, Symphonys and Concert Grands on custom order. Afte Bogen bought them out they let the company run for some time then shut it down only retaining the manufacturing of the Bozak full range outdoor driver.

A few years later, I spoke to Bogen and asked about the N.E.A.R. inventory of drivers and someone there told me all the inventory had been packed up and stored somewhere but they never put the inventory in their control system. I have this feeling one day someone at Bogen is going to find a motherload of OEM Rudy Bozak and N.E.A.R. driver and make a fortune.

These are amazing...best I have ever heard to date, they do everything right so far. It's nice to have a new/different frontier regarding gear. :yes:
Interesting about the NEAR lineage...I had no idea about the Bozak connection. Thanks Brian.

Might be too bargain basement (unless you really like that dark seventies walnutesque vinyl), but the EPI M60 is pretty darn punchy for the size. It's given many a larger pair a run for their money. Smooth highs too IMHO.
 
Super little speaker. Once you get one like that you want to just break out all of your music and hear it anew. I'm experiencing that with the preloved Totem Rainmakers I just picked a few weeks ago. Enjoy!

Theres a chance, still do not knw for sure. If I do I'll bring them along. I am currently using a Dynaco ST 70...

I was looking at that very pair on eBay. My $60 bid didn't win, though.

Then again, I won my Cliffhanger Bulldogs for $212 a few hours later.
