The Onkyo A-9050 is set for release in October. Of course, it's available in silver....just not in the US.

- Optical/coaxial digitals
- Wolfson 192 kHz/24 bit DAC

- stereo pre-outs
- subwoofer output
- detachable power cord

That's to compete with that $500 Yamaha Integrated that is stirring up the pot. That amp almost makes vintage redundant if your looking for SQ from what I've read. It looks like they are finally getting there act together for audiophiles who want more than an AVR.

Very likely to be a nice sounding piece of kit.

I've been very pleased with my TX-8050. I don't know what it's using for DACs but it does a nice job streaming 96/24FLACs from my music server.

Now you have me thinking... HMMM... I have a nice chunk of old growth black walnut in the big-stack-o-wood. The Onkyo would indeed look nice with some old school wood side panels.
 
I can't wait to hear some reviews on this. I would really like to see DRC included with these new units, like it is with their AVR systems.

My Onkyo 575x AVR, Dollar for Dollar is everything they said it is. Even it's SQ in stereo comes so close to my seperate NAD Pre/Amp Tuner & Audio Design Power Amp I put It away and bought some much better gear. In most respects the NAD is a far better unit,more flexable, very good FM Tuner and Phono Stage ect, but in terms of SQ alone it is a lot closer than I like to admit. If this new Integrated is made with with the same effort, I have no doubt it will be a hit!

As for the Wolfson DAC, to me its like choosing between an Intel or AMD CPU Processor. It depends what unit. Both have some serious Processors.

Yamaha stirred the pot a few years ago with their CD-S1000 that was matching the performance of $4000 CDPs. I don't know if they're receiver was as well regarded, I just don't know anything about it other than what i read in UHF. System matching! Onkyo will be in close pursuit, and silver does look nice. I wonder how it sounds?
 
This Onkyo looks real promising. It also shares a very similar look with a Sansui AU 607mr integrated.
