Setton amp/preamp value?

Greetings. My first post here.

I own a Setton BS5500 dual mono amp and matching PS5500 stereo pre-amp that I purchased new in 1977. They are in excellent working condition, although there are some cosmetic issues like scratches and one of the preamp knobs is missing the aluminum bar. In any case I no longer use tham at all and wondered if they have some value? I know these are relatively rare items, and I know they sound great, but before I list them for sale anyplace I'd like to know what they might be worth.

Any ideas? Thanks for your input.

ebay is the place to check for what "value" a piece has. Do your own homework.
While we will welcome you to AK, it is considered rather bad form to make your first post a request for information in order to sell gear.
Anyhooo, go to ebay and start an auction, say with a $9.99 opening and let the market do its work. Be sure to include good pix and describe fully and honestly.

Hi and thanks for the replies. Sorry if my post offended or exhibited bad form. I was told by folks on other forums I participate in that this forum is the place to find out about actual values for vintage equipment, as opposed to simply seeing what some people have bid for it. Plus as I'm sure you know, Setton gear is not that common.

I was unaware of the Orion blue book. Thanks for the lead.

Ultimately it is what persons will bid on it that determines its value. The best we can do is monitor prices. Value is a personal subjective concept, it is like art. Only in the eyes of the beholder. I have items that I'dnot sell for offers that are 5x the going rate only b/c to me the value is far more than the going price. You need to look at what your are selling and think of both value and price. Sort of think of value as the reserve price for which you'd decline to sell or a floor in a negotiation for a sale which you would not sell below or buy above.

As Brian already stated, what people have/will bid/pay for an item essentially IS what its market value is. You might be able to get more if the right person came around looking for THAT unit and he/she HAD to have it, but ebay is a pretty good resource. Check past auctions to start with, use the AK search function, stick around awhile, hang out and people will be much more willing to help ya out. You may even find out what this place is actually about, nobody can tell you, its something you learn on your own :yes:
 
Please post some pics. I used to have a big Setton dual mono amp but I never got it working. Dual mono-everything. Even two power switches!
